That MW2 kit looks fake. The weathered look as described by the seller looks to be real weathering, giving the impression that he just took a old ammo box and stenciled it.
I also couldn’t find this anywhere else. Anybody confirm this was/is real?

It’s not real. It’s a total fake and the seller is obviously just trying to scam someone.

The ammo box is 100% legit. My Gamestop gave one of these away on launch night. They’ve been on ebay quite a bit since the game came out. There’s actually 2 different style ammo boxes that were used on these

I dunno I just can’t take Retro’s word. I need to see proof there are others of this around. I mean there is no Infinity Ward logo anywhere on the box(which every promo should have the companies name on it for copyright purposes) as well as an Xbox logo on it. A promo kit that only has ghetto white painted words on it doesn’t win me over. I need to do more research to confirm.

Based on the price/value of that guy’s MSX items, he’s an MSX Millionaire!

Search complete listings for ‘modern warfare 2 ammo’. Theres one of the other style boxes that went off last week. Or if you search for ‘modern warfare 2 launch’ theres another one that has the T-Shirt that originally came with the kit. These have been showing up on ebay since the game came out. This is just the first time they were featured on Gamesniped
