Once again, another Best reproduction has been listed here as a prototype. The Last Starfighter on the Missile Command cartridge is a repro and one of many that Best Electronics sold and still sells today.

I thought Best sold real proto boards but just threw them in production cart cases (I have many 2600 proto/unreleased production boards in 7800 pole position carts with the Best sticker on the back).
Bojay, I’m sorry, I can’t know every single reproduction of this world. Why don’t you just say: “Nicola, that’s another BE reproduction”?
Is there a list of those reproduction?

Roagie,
Best used to claim that, but they have since admitted that they were actually manufacturing them.
Bojay, is there a list of reproductions by Best? May you tell me how to recognise them?
thanks

Nicola,
Best has two major styles of repros. The first is a standard cartridge with what looks like a dot matrix printer generated label or a picture label that is photocopied in black and white glued to the cartridge. Superman for the Atari 800, Dukes of Hazard and a number of others are among the typical examples I have seen. The other style is just a standard 2600 or 5200 cart with a little oval warranty sticker on the back like this Last Starfighter in the Missile Command.
A real Atari prototype either comes with what’s called a lab label with instructions on who the sample game needs to be returned to at Atari or in a blank cartridge containing a burned eprom. I have also seen a few naked PCBs with eproms.
