A Few Site Changes

Written by Link on 1st April, 2008

You may all have noticed that Nicola, the other main blogger from gameSniped, sometimes uses the English language in rather odd ways. That's because while he does have an excellent grasp and experience with it, his mother tongue is Italian.

I never even considered launching gS in another language when we started, and in the beginning our traffic was primarily from English speaking counties.

Over the past six months our Italian audience has grown to the point where the constitute the majority of our traffic. This is something that I can't ignore. After a lot of internal struggles with this, I have opted to make a new change to the site. We're switching primarily to the Italian language.

I know this may come as a shock to many of you, and trust me, I'm not making the decision lightly. The fact is however, 80% of our traffic come from Italy and I feel that it's the direction we need to take the site.

So over the course of the next few week I will be swapping out the majority of the content for it's Italian counterpart. As you can see, I've already started with a few areas.

If you are an English native however, don't worry. I do hope to add some automatic translation tools in the coming months.

I really hope you can understand why we've had to make this decision.

Comments are welcome.

Thank you for your understanding,

Insegnerò l’italiano a Link.

Very funny… Just subtle enough to be believable. My favorite Aprils Fools prank thus far, but its still early.

I confess, this was our April fools.

I was so close to unsubscribing! You got me for sure. I just hope you don’t lose too many readers for it…

A strange joke indeed. Although if you do decide to have everything in Italian as English, I certainly don’t see a problem.
