Entire SNES Collection - Relisted

Written by Link on 25th March, 2007

Since last time it got no bids, we once again have:

THE ENTIRE US SUPER NINTENDO COLLECTION - COMPLETE!!
That’s right, all 720 unique carts, and a bonus 74 sealed duplicate carts.

Last time the starting bid was 15K, this time it’s 12K. I’m really surprised that no one bid on this. The last complete NES set went for much higher than this, so I guess it’s just a matter of publicity. if you break each collection down piece by piece, a SNES collection is worth much more, plus it’s defiantly harder to assemble.

Someone post this on Penny Arcade and maybe they’ll buy it to give away at PAX like they did with a complete NES collection. Or spread the word and Digg this story and end up seeing this auction featured on Attack Of the Show. this collection is so awesome, that it deserves to be sold.

Go here to read an interview I did with the seller when it was listed the first time.

There actually has never been a “complete” NES set up for sale before. There was one with “most” of the carts sans about 3 missing, and shill bidding brought the total up pretty high. Cart wise it went for around $5000.

I don’t expect this one to sell for 12K either. The highest priced game(s) for that system with box do not command anywhere near as those for NES. On top of this, Stadium Events is the toughest box to find for NES. SNES has nothing even remotely close. Aero Fighters and Mountain Bike Rally/Speed Racer come to mind, but the next two highest priced ones boxed after that are not even included in the auction (ISS and ISS Deluxe) which is a whole other story altogether as to why we the DP list is dictated as the “complete” list over Nintendo’s Official Release list.

IN any event, he’s roughly asking about $15 for each boxed game, which would seem possible, but there don’t seem to be any SNES collectors that have that much cash lying around.

I get into PAX as a special guest every year and I already posted it on the forums the first time it was posted.
